Elements and Performance Criteria
- Plan and prepare
- Applicable OHS, legislative and organisational requirements relevant to security screens and grill installation are verified and complied with
- Work order is reviewed, confirmed and clarified with appropriate personnel
- Security screens and grills are identified and checked against the work order and located ready for installation
- Tools and equipment are selected appropriate to work requirements and checked for operational effectiveness in accordance with manufacturers recommendations
- Prepare position for security screen or grill
- Existing screens and grills are removed where necessary to make way for the security screens and grills
- The jamb stiles are assessed for the installation of the security screen/grills frame and adjustments made as necessary
- The frame is positioned and secured in place so that the head/sill is level and stiles plumb.
- Additional preparation for the locking mechanism is made where necessary
- Install security screens and grills
- Security screen/grill is inserted in the frame and tested for operation of open and shut
- Locking mechanism is installed and tested
- Items that do not meet quality requirements are repaired, recycled or discarded according to workplace procedures
- Installation completion and equipment faults are recorded and reported to the appropriate personnel
- Clean work areas
